Jay Lane told Jerry Schill, a podcaster out of New Bern who previously was a lobbyist for the fishing industry, that he was supported by some people in the fishing industry who do not in fact support him.

When Schill asked various fishermen about this support, they denied supporting Lane. When he specifically asked Fresh Catch Seafood about this, they also denied the claim. In fact they gave permission for candidate Jerry Tillett to record on their property but did not give permission for Lane to do so and were upset he did anyway without their permission. He even used the footage in one of his videos after Tillett’s video was released.
